19th MayY10 Geography Trip: Bay of Naples
Over the May half term, 42 of our Year 10 Geographers visited Southern Italy for an educational and memorable field trip.
The itinerary was packed with excellent learning opportunities, starting with visits to organic farms and local shops in Sorrento to see how olive oil, gelato, and mozzarella are produced. The students also enjoyed making their own traditional Napoli pizzas.
To support their physical and human geography studies, the group hiked the crater of Mount Vesuvius and explored the preserved Roman ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. They also took a boat trip around Capri to study the coastal landforms and blue water caves, journeyed through the underground limestone caves in Amalfi, and visited the ancient Greek temples of Paestum.
Despite the warm weather and busy schedule, the students remained full of energy, culminating in the first-ever Croxley Danes Pool Olympics during their free time at the hotel.
It was a highly successful trip with memories that will last a lifetime. Well done to all of our Year 10s for representing the school so well.
