Secondary Transfer 2026

Applications for Secondary Transfer 2026

Applications are now open for Secondary Transfer 2026. Parents need to apply online via Hertfordshire County Council here. The application deadline is October 31st 2025.

Please note, a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) is only required for students applying under the Musical Aptitude criterion or Children of Staff criterion.

Late Applications

The last date for late applications is 2nd December 2025. A written explanation must be submitted to Herts County Council giving reasons why your application was late, for your application to be agreed as ‘on time’.

If you move house, this is the last date for you to provide evidence of your new address to Herts County Council and for it to be considered ‘on time’ in the allocation process.

Any applications received after the 30th January 2026 will not be offered a school place until the week commencing 27th April 2026 in the second and final continuing interest round.

National Allocation Day – 2nd March 2026

National Allocation Day 2026 will be on Monday 2nd March 2026 when you will be notified via email of the school place your child has been allocated for September 2026.

You will need to accept or decline your place as soon as possible or by 9th March at the latest via your local authority, do not accept/confirm your place with the school.

If you have not been successful in your application to this school and would like to know your position on the waiting list please email the school at admissions@croxleydanes.herts.sch.uk

First Round of Continuing Interest

Following National Allocation Day, all applicants who listed Croxley Danes School higher than the school they have been allocated will automatically be rolled onto the continuing interest list. Please inform the local authority if you do not wish to remain on the list.

You will not remain on this school's continuing interest list if you have been allocated a school you ranked higher than this school.

First continuing interest applicants allocated a different school at this time will be contacted by the local authority between 23rd - 27th March 2026.

Second (and final) Round of Continuing Interest

If you are allocated a different school you will be contacted by the Local Authority between 27th April - 1st May 2026. If further vacancies occur they will be filled as they occur from the continuing interest list. The continuing interest list will continue until the end of December 2026 at which time if applicants wish to remain on the list they will need to complete an in-year application form which can be downloaded from the school website under Admissions / In Year Admissions.

It is worth noting that the school receives few withdrawals at this stage and it is therefore important that you make alternative arrangements for your child by accepting a place at another secondary school. There is no statistical analysis, from one year to the next, as to how many places will be accepted or declined by applicants.

Appeals

All applicants refused a place have a right of appeal to an independent appeal panel constituted and operated in accordance with the School Admission Appeals Code. Appellants should either:

 i. Log into their online application at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/schoolappeals and click on the link ‘register an appeal.’

ii. Contact the Customer Service Centre on 0300 123 4043 to request appeal information, if you did not apply through the Hertfordshire online application system.

The deadline to submit an appeal is 4pm, 27th March 2026.
