Netball team make great progress

On Thursday, the netball team played their second match of the season and showed just how much progress they have made this term. With good passages of passing, some great interceptions and good shooting, they managed a creditable score of 6-16 at home to St Michael's school.

Earlier in the season, their first match saw them playing against St Clement Danes. As her entry for the Journalist Competition, Megan wrote the following match report:

On Wednesday 7th of November 2017 – a cold, autumn day - Year 7 girls from both sister schools came out to the courts to play a friendly game of netball. They played in the cold, blowing wind and although the score was not the best for Croxley Danes, they played amazingly with spirit and confidence. The girls were wearing their games kit and hopefully soon will be wearing their new netball dresses!!! Two St Clement Danes Year 10s were standing on each side of both pitches checking everything was right and marking the scores.

A couple of teachers such as Mr. Marks, Mr. Thompson (our Headteacher), Miss Ryan, our netball coaches and parents came and watched the fantastic match and saw how well both teams played. SCD played very well by winning 18-00 for the A team, and 24-00 for the B team. Both teams cheered on each other at the end and gave a friendly, formal handshake to say ‘well done’. No matter the outcome or the score, both teams played well with exceptional passing, dodging and teamwork, and neither team gave up. The goal shooter and goal attack of SCD did an exceptional job at scoring, and the wing defence, goal defence and goal keeper of CDS did their very best at defending. It was a great result for St Clement Danes in the end. For a first match, we all gave our very best effort and now are practising for a next friendly match. Well done and good luck!!

Well done to all teams and for Megan for reporting on the match. Results of the Journalist Competition will be announced before the end of term.
