Applications for 2017 now being accepted - letter from Dr Valentine

We are pleased to be able to announce that we are now accepting admissions for September 2017 entry and our planned Open Evening at 7pm on Tuesday 20th September will go ahead. More details about the Open Evening and admissions can be found here

The letter below has been sent to all parents on our database this morning and gives further information, including details about the planned temporary site:

Dear Parent

Over the past week, we have been working with the Department for Education, Education Funding Agency and Hertfordshire County Council to review the progress made towards the acquisition of the permanent site for Croxley Danes School in Baldwins Lane. The Department for Education and Education Funding Agency have assured us that they are confident that we can deliver Croxley Danes School for a 2017 opening. This is based on their detailed knowledge of the land negotiations which have been taking place, our planning and their experience of working with a large number of schools in our position.

We are pleased, therefore, to be able to announce that the school is now in a position to advertise and accept applications for 2017 secondary transfer. We are cautiously optimistic that, subject to the swift conclusion of land negotiations and a Funding Agreement being signed by the Secretary of State for Education, the school will open in September 2017.

For the first year of opening, students will benefit from being accommodated at St Clement Danes School while the building is underway, before moving to the permanent site. This will provide students with first rate facilities and give them the opportunity to experience life at St Clement Danes, collaborating with older students who will act as role models and mentors for the new intake. We are in the process of discussing the provision of transport to St Clement Danes from Croxley Green for 2017-18 and will share further information about this in due course. For 2017-18 only, we will accommodate four forms of entry: 120 children, the maximum we can accommodate on the St Clement Danes site.

From September 2018, we will revert to our current planned admission number of six forms of entry - 180 students - and will join the South West Hertfordshire Consortium for musical aptitude testing for the 10% of students to whom we will offer places on this basis. We will, from this date, move to the permanent site in Baldwins Lane.

Parents of children in Year 6 will be able to apply for a place at Croxley Danes School in addition to their usual four choices of school. After the National Offer day on 1st March 2017, we will liaise with Hertfordshire County Council to enable parents to make a final selection if they have been offered places at two schools.

We will shortly be announcing our delayed Public Consultation which will take place this term. On Tuesday 20th September, at 7pm, we will be holding our Open Evening for prospective parents at St Clement Danes in the Barbirolli Hall. We hope that all parents considering Croxley Danes for September 2017 entry will put this date in their diary, but would also be delighted to see parents of younger pupils at this event. We look forward to being able to communicate our plans for the school and will provide further details about the school’s accommodation on this date.

We are pleased to be in a position to invite applications for September 2017 and will work tirelessly to ensure that we are given the opportunity to open on this date. We look forward to working with the local community from now on as we continue our plans to create a high quality school for children from Croxley Green and beyond.

Yours sincerely

Dr Josephine Valentine
