Languages Week 2020

At the end of September, we celebrated languages week, albeit quite differently to previous years.

The European Day of Languages was set up in 2001 by the Council of Europe and is celebrated annually on the 26th of September, however, at Croxley Danes School we made it a week of fun celebrations. The objectives are always to raise the importance of language learning, promote our diversity whilst encouraging lifelong learning in and out of school.

During the course of the week all students were able to earn merits and house points by either making a video recording of a greeting in a chosen language, making an audio recording in English of a poem about language or taking part in one of the 51 virtual challenges. The week ended with the usual and highly anticipated bake off challenge where students shared pictures of their baked language theme cake. We also celebrated our diversity at Croxley Danes School and learnt that we speak a total of 53 different languages in total. Our staff also showcased their multilingual skills in the following video created especially for languages week, please click below drive.google.com/file/d/1Ro5SWXszJ2lBtRP-Vd-mowJZ03S3bNCr/view
