23rd JuneACS Students Inspire Chater Junior Pupils for Windrush Day
To commemorate Windrush Day, students representing our African and Caribbean Society visited Chater Junior School today to deliver an educational and inspiring assembly, enriching the school's curriculum on the subject.
Windrush Day is observed on 22nd June, marking 78 years since the HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks, Essex. The vessel carried over 500 passengers from the Caribbean who answered the call to help rebuild post-Second World War Britain and establish new lives in the UK.
During the assembly, our students spoke passionately about the significance of the anniversary, shedding light on the historical context and celebrating the monumental contributions of the Windrush generation to modern British culture and society. A huge well done to all of our students involved for representing the society so brilliantly and delivering such an impactful session.
