Croxley students on first school trip

Danes Student Journalist, Megan Cooney (7C) reports ...

On Saturday 20th January, three Croxley girls from Cassiobridge took their first school trip into London to see a Netball Quad Series fixture with some St Clement Danes students. When they arrived at the Copper Box, the first match (which was Australia vs South Africa) had already begun. Harriet in 7C said, ‘The atmosphere was great and very exciting!’ After about an hour of netball, which saw Australia win their match, there was an hour and a half break when many of the girls went to have a look around and to get some food. Then the second and most exciting match started - England vs New Zealand. Harriet said, ‘When England scored, there was a massive cheer and when New Zealand scored there was only one person in our stand who applauded!’ At the end of the hour it got very tense with a draw of 49-49 and had to go into extra time! Amanda, also in Cassiobridge, said: ‘It was fun and exciting, the food was good and it was really interesting as it went from a tie to extra time!!’ On the girls’ first school trip, they saw a netball match that went into 14 minutes of tense extra time - which is very rare. England, inspired by the fans, won the match with the final score at 64-57.
