First victory for girls' football team

Croxley Danes girls played a fantastic match to win 1:0 vs The Reach Free to make history for the school this evening. Coach, Mrs Lake writes: "In the first half there was some great defending from the defenders and Zahra in goal and some great chances created by Maisie on the wing. She made a fantastic run into the box and was just tackled in time to force a corner. In the second half, the girls were really motivated. They created lots of chances with Jess and Maisie going close. Frudy, who was having a great game in the middle of the pitch, collected the ball at the half way line, turned, and dribbled past 3 defenders to score in the bottom right hand corner, the first goal for the school ever!! The last few minutes were very close with great desire shown by all."

Mrs Lake awarded player of the match to Frudy (who, incidentally, also scored the school's very first goal in netball, too) and says that she was incredibly impressed with the improvement shown in such a short space of time by the whole team. She was especially impressed with the girls' respect towards their opponents throughout and after the match. Although he was only able to see half the match, Mr Thompson was delighted to witness the goal - yet another Croxley Danes first.

Well done to everyone concerned - a superb effort and result, girls!
