STEM CLUB and Science Stars of the Month

The Science Faculty at Croxley Danes School has started its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) club. Many exciting activities have already been undertaken, which are regularly documented on our science twitter account. Please do take a look at @CroxleyScience for more information. We are delighted that this has proven to be such a hugely popular club with around forty Year 7 and Year 8 pupils attending. The CDS STEM club aims to spread the joy of learning about Science in a fun and interactive way whilst promoting careers within STEM subjects. The department has recently designed a board to promote Science Careers and to award those students whose work and contributions in Science have been outstanding. Congratulations to this month’s Science Stars, Jack B (7S), Hannah K (8G), Charlotte T (9J) and Josh C (10C). The calibre of work produced has been extremely impressive.

As part of 2021 Science Week UK Danes Educational Trust recently launched a Key Stage 3 competition where students were asked to produce a poster on the theme "Innovating for the Future". We were delighted that Croxley Danes produced entries which were highly commended according to the judging criteria provided by the British Science Association. We would like to make a special mention to Jack B (7S) for winning two certificates. Jack won the 'Creativity in Approach' Award and was also overall winner across the four secondary schools within the trust. We would also like to congratulate Claudia B (7G) for winning the “Effective communication” category of the competition. Well done to Jack and Claudia, and all the students who took part! Mr Lazaro-Gimeno, Subject Lead for Biology, commented "Congratulations to Jack and Claudia for being such great representatives of the school, and for all the hard work they have shown."
