Earlier last month some of our Year 9 students participated in the nationwide Shakespeare Schools Festival with a highly anticipated performance of Macbeth. The following article is written by one of our student actors in the play.

On Friday 20th November sixteen Year 9 Croxley Danes drama students performed Macbeth whilst participating in a nation-wide world record breaking attempt with the Shakespeare Schools Festival. The Shakespeare Schools’ Festival’s “One Night of Shakespeare” is the biggest theatrical event this year. Hundreds of schools across the country took part in the world record breaking attempt for the most simultaneous Shakespearean performances on one evening.

On Monday 10th November the Macbeth cast participated in a virtual workshop with a theatre practitioner from the Shakespeare Schools Festival. The workshop was very beneficial for our progress and taught us many new techniques, such as acting in the manner of an animal to assist and inspire us as to what to do in scenes.

It was very extremely rewarding and fulfilling to see the performance completed and edited on the evening of 20th November. Overall the entire experience was very enjoyable and exhilarating, I would definitely do it again!
