Duke of Edinburgh Awards at Croxley Danes School

This term just under 60 Year 9 students have started working towards their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award by learning a variety of new skills at home. Pupils have found creative ways of completing the various sections of their award.

While it is looking unlikely that the planned expedition this summer will be able to go ahead due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, students are well underway with other parts of the award scheme. Many students have discovered a love for baking and cooking and are thereby producing lovely meals and snacks which adheres to the skill section of their award scheme. Others have chosen to do online courses in comic book valuation, bird recognition or drawing. The physical section of the award seems to be the easiest with students doing the Joe Wicks morning PE sessions or exploring their local area for their daily recommended exercise. Bryn in 9G has been making bread, Holly in 9C is supporting dance lessons, Jack in 9G is learning about the valuation process for comic books and Libby in 9G has been cooking for her family.

If any student who has been planning to take part in the award has not logged onto their DofE account they need to do so or alternatively contact Miss Northridge as soon as possible.
